Job Description

Founded in Silicon Valley in 2009 by Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, Andreessen Horowitz (aka a16z) is a venture capital firm that backs bold entrepreneurs building the future through technology. We are stage agnostic. We invest in seed to venture to growth-stage technology companies, across AI, bio + healthcare, consumer, crypto, enterprise, fintech, games, and companies building toward American dynamism. a16z has $46B in assets under management across multiple funds.

We’ve established a team that is defined by respect for the entrepreneur and the company-building process; we know what it’s like to be in the founder’s shoes. We’ve invested in companies like Affirm, Airbnb, Coinbase, Databricks, Devoted Health, Insitro, Figma, GitHub, Instacart, OpenSea, Roblox, Stripe, and Substack. Our team is at the forefront of new technology, helping founders and their companies impact and change the world.

The Role

Our Technology & Workplace Experience organization serves every employee in the firm with the services we provide: Workplace Experience (offices), IT Operations (service desk, device management, productivity tools), Data & AI, Cybersecurity, and Business Applications.

We are looking for a Vendor and SaaS Operations Analyst – Technology & Workplace to help us run smarter and faster by overseeing the contracts, vendors, and SaaS platforms that power this broad portfolio. You’ll own the end-to-end contract lifecycle — from onboarding to renewals — ensuring that agreements, purchase orders, and P-Cards are aligned with business needs and executed flawlessly. You’ll also bring visibility to SaaS usage and costs, helping us rationalize our portfolio and keep spend optimized.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll move quickly, adapt, and solve problems with a results-driven mindset. At the same time, you’ll introduce and mature the kinds of disciplines that allow organizations to operate effectively at scale — automation, financial rigor, cost transparency, and vendor controls — while keeping processes lean and practical.

The ideal candidate has deep familiarity with how CIO/Technology organizations operate, is highly responsive and accurate, and thrives in a fast-paced, agile environment. Knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) or Technology Business Management (TBM / Apptio-like frameworks) is a plus.

The preferred location for this role will be San Francisco, CA. We are open to candidates based in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA or New York City, NY area. This role requires an in office presence at least once a week.

To join our team, you should be excited to:

Contract Lifecycle Management

    • Drive a modern, automation-first approach to Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM), focusing on process efficiency and full end-to-end automation
    • Own the end-to-end contract lifecycle for IT and Workplace Experience vendors (onboarding, execution, renewals, amendments, and terminations)
    • Maintain a centralized repository of all vendor contracts in Ironclad and ensure accuracy of key terms (dates, value, obligations)
    • Partner with Legal to ensure contracts meet compliance and risk standards

SaaS & Application Portfolio Oversight

    • Track SaaS licenses and utilization; compare actual usage vs. contracted entitlements using tools like Lumos, Zylo, or similar
    • Drive application rationalization to eliminate redundant SaaS tools and reduce shelfware
    • Partner with IT leadership to benchmark SaaS/IT spend against industry peers
