Job Description

Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

    • Performing Regulatory Compliance Associate duties for a MiCA licensed entity in Luxembourg.
    • Providing advisory and recommendations to the first-line of defence regarding complaints handling controls and ensuring fair and timely resolutions.
    • Reviewing and analysing complex complaints escalations and regularly reporting to the Head of Compliance.
    • Performing regular pattern analysis on complaints, working with the wider teams internally to escalate and find remediations for recurring issues.
    • Supporting Regulatory Reporting of consumer protection reports, in line with CSSF expectations.
    • Overseeing Consumer Protection related policies in relation with MiCA, including but not limited to the commercial policy, best execution policy etc.
    • Supporting the operationalisation of the Regulatory Watch and Horizon Scanning mechanism for consumer protection and conduct.
    • Supporting the design and delivery of training programs for employees to raise awareness of consumer protection issues, regulatory requirements and lead initiatives to foster a culture of consumer protection in Coinbase Luxembourg.
    • Establishing the Management Information oversight metrics for Senior Management, Board of Directors and CSSF reporting.
    • Establishing guardrails for handling vulnerable customers and appropriate oversight to ensure these guardrails are being followed.
    • Ensuring that other consumer protection requirements are in place and establishing a framework for regular oversight of these; these include but are not limited to outsourcing controls, safeguarding, trade surveillance and market abuse, conflict of interest, customer disclosures etc.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

    • 3+ years prior experience in Compliance, or risk management roles
    • Knowledge of EU/Luxembourg regulatory framework for PI, EMI, VASPs or CASPs, particularly consumer protection and conduct obligations.
    • A fast learner, curious by nature and an excellent communicator both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to work cross-functionally with local and global team members.
    • A Compliance or Risk Management certification.
    • Attention to detail in order to identify potential deficiencies, and a solution-oriented mindset.
    • Possess a collaborative personality and be open to suggestions from team members
    • Strong knowledge of industry protocols and best practices both in crypto-assets and consumer protection.
    • Good analytical skills and ability to accurately interpret complex requirements.
    • Should have a strong moral code and sense of ethics

Nice to haves:

    • Background in Compliance, Legal or financial services
    • Prior experience working in roles supporting Conduct and Consumer Protection
