Job Description

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.

So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.

Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. The Role

Block is looking for a strategic, action-oriented Insights Manager to join our Global GTM team. You will help shape how Block uses data to deepen our understanding of merchants, leveraging data storytelling to surface meaningful and impactful insights. You'll work with sales teams and also directly with merchants ensuring more tailored support across Sales, Account Management, and Partnerships. You will partner with Sales leaders, Product teams, and cross-functional collaborators to deliver insights that drive commercial outcomes.

This is a critical role within Block's GTM function. You will elevate the way data and insights are embedded in our global GTM and Sales motions — ensuring that teams are enabled with the right tools, metrics, and perspectives to craft compelling sales narratives, retain merchant relationships, and scale our business.

You Will

    • Build our insights muscle focused on our positioning and how we frame our value proposition to merchants across the Block product suite including Square, Cash App, and Afterpay
    • Understand business challenges for our top tier merchants globally, providing a holistic lens on how we can help solve them and deliver growth through actionable insights that can be tracked against their business goals
    • Pioneer new approaches to data and continuously evolve and enhance our insights offering - always with a strong focus on action
    • Collaborate with Sales Enablement and Sales Content team to develop scalable content and resources (such as case studies, ROI frameworks, and automated performance templates) to enable efficient, self-service capabilities that bolster Block's position as a data led organization
    • Partner with GTM and Sales leadership to provide strategic insights that support emerging priorities such as market entry decisions, coverage models, and product rollouts

You Have

    • 5+ years working with merchant, customer, or loyalty data with experience delivering actionable insights and measuring growth
    • Demonstrate ability to lead business decisions and commercial outcomes from data and insight at the General Management and C Suite level
    • Translate complex ideas and insight into a customer-focused narrative that creates actionable recommendations
    • Ability to think critically and problem solve through the lens of the business as well as partner with technical and analytical teams to ensure we're solving problems cross functionally
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and lasting collaborative relationships
    • Experience working in global environments managing multiple markets, stakeholders and priorities
    • Comfortable working at pace, sometimes with competing and changing priorities
    • Deep analytical mindset with great attention to detail
    • Proficient Tableau or other BI tools, advanced excel skills and SQL understanding
    • Ideally 5+ years experience working in Tech, Payments, or a B2C organization e.g. Retail, Travel, Telco, Retail Banking
