Job Description

Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.

As a dedicated Trust & Safety Consumer Analyst, you will be responsible for proactive consumer risk management and strategy. You will be responsible for representing Coinbase as a knowledgeable and credible in-house expert in legal proceedings.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

    • Dedicated Litigation Support & Witness Testimony: You will serve as the primary subject matter expert and witness for Coinbase in various legal proceedings. This includes conducting deep dives into cases and explaining Coinbase's security and identity products. You will serve as a key advisor to the business on matters involving customer security and account protection; including review of best practices, identification of areas of improvement, and ensuring proper documentation regarding legal matters.
    • Strategic Knowledge Management & Archiving: A core function of this role will be the establishment and maintenance of a comprehensive knowledge base to support both litigation and internal operations. You will systematically document Coinbase's security and identity product suite and its historical evolution.
    • Proactive Consumer Litigation Risk Mitigation & PED Influence: You will bridge the gap between litigation outcomes and product development by implementing a closed-loop feedback process to document and track product or process adjustments with Product, Engineering, and Design (PED) teams.
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: You will act as Litigation's dedicated point of contact and advocate to other teams and organizations, which will allow attorneys to focus on their dockets.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

You have 4+ years of experience in Trust & Safety, Risk Management, Fraud Prevention, or a related operational field, with a proven track record of handling complex investigations. You are a builder at heart, comfortable with ambiguity, and excited by the opportunity to create and implement new policies and processes from the ground up. You possess excellent stakeholder management skills and are adept at translating complex security concepts into clear, actionable guidance for technical and non-technical partners. You have experience with knowledge management and maintaining documentation to assist others in understanding complex product history. You have been in roles that require you to make sound business recommendations about security risks.

Nice to haves:

    • JD; preferred, but not required
    • Experience testifying in legal proceedings
    • Experience leading or working in LegalOps roles and an understanding of trial preparation procedures
    • Prior experience working with institutional, corporate, or B2B clients in a financial services or technology environment.
    • Familiarity with cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, and the associated risks.
  • Formal training in project management or process improvement meth
