Job Description

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. The Role

Square Australia is looking for a Senior Designer to join our creative team. The creative team is made up of copywriters, art directors, designers, motion designers, and video editors who collaborate with each other and with brand managers, product marketing managers, channel leads, and operations to deliver creative work that builds awareness for our brand and products.

We focus on creating a brand that is built on creativity, technology, and humanity, and we strive to look at brand marketing through the lens of our Square sellers. We work across all platforms, covering brand campaigns, web and mobile experiences, visual design, print and out of home, social and content, experiential installations, photography, video, and animation.

You will report to our Creative Director, Square Australia. This role is remote, and for candidates based in Australia only.

You Will

    • Work on projects from ideation and exploration through implementation, in partnership with our creative team, brand design, and cross functional teams
    • Translate brand strategy into powerful and purposeful creative concepts
    • Develop work for the full funnel of marketing, from brand awareness campaigns to lead-generation assets
    • Enhance brand aesthetics while supporting overall brand direction
    • Work with marketing and other partners across Square to guarantee an integrated brand experience

You Have

    • 8+ years of agency, freelance, or relevant experience
    • A portfolio of work that shows an ability to execute against a variety of design aesthetics and marketing channels
    • An understanding of typography, grid systems, and colour theory
    • A point of view on brand identity systems
    • Experience working cross-functionally to launch creative deliverables
    • Experience with all facets of video, photo, digital, and print production
    • Experience working with the latest AI technology to support design output
