Job Description

Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.

As the Manager of Compliance Operations (Site Lead) for CX, you’ll lead and inspire Associate Managers and compliance professionals to deliver a world-class experience for Coinbase customers across Retail Enhanced Due Diligence, Transaction Monitoring, and Retail Screening.

You’ll own delivery excellence, raise the bar on service quality, and drive process innovation to keep operations seamless. This role is your opportunity to build, grow, and empower a diverse, high-performing team across multiple locations—while achieving ambitious production and quality goals that directly shape Coinbase’s success.

You will partner with global leaders and internal stakeholders to deliver a seamless customer experience and scale operations thoughtfully and effectively. This role requires influencing peers and cross-functional stakeholders to drive operational and business goals. Success means being able to shift between high-level strategy and detailed execution to achieve team and organizational outcomes.

As Site Lead, you will recognize and leverage individual strengths, support talent growth, and contribute to succession planning. The ideal candidate embraces Coinbase’s core values and initiatives and translates them into everyday practices that strengthen our culture and impact.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

    • Execute strategic plans to achieve operational and business goals, setting clear objectives and metrics for quality, productivity, and customer experience.
    • Drive business impact through strong quantitative decision-making, adoption of tools and resources, and continuous improvement projects with network-wide impact.
    • Lead with ownership and positive energy, fostering a culture of learning, accountability, and high performance across teams and locations.
    • Ensure hiring excellence by upholding high interview standards and raising the talent bar at all levels.
    • Develop and grow managers, leads, and team members through coaching, engagement, and cross-functional learning opportunities.
    • Balance strategic priorities with tactical execution, delegating thoughtfully while managing multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Partner with teams to surface challenges, generate ideas, and deliver innovative solutions that strengthen operations and customer experience.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

    • 10+ years’ experience in AML/Financial Crime Compliance with strong knowledge of banking regulations, payments, and compliance operations.
    • Proven Compliance Manager with expertise in industry standards, audits, and control systems.
    • Analytical leader skilled in simplifying complex regulations and driving operational improvements.
    • Track record in people management, employee development, and scaling teams across workflows and processes (e.g., Due Diligence, Transaction Monitoring).

Nice to haves:

    • Relevant Industry certifications, ACAMS, Financial Crimes
  • Experience in project management,
